SWEDEN: STUDENT VISAS
Students who are citizens of countries outside of the EU/EEA planning to study in Sweden for at least three months will need to apply for a residence permit for studies in Sweden. You must have applied for and been granted a residence permit before entering Sweden.
To be eligible for a residence permit, you must have been admitted to full-time studies on a programme or course that requires you to be present at the university or university college.
Stays of more than three months
To be eligible to apply for a residence permit for studies, you must have been admitted to full-time accredited university studies in Sweden. This includes paying the first instalment of tuition fees.
To apply for a residence permit for studies, you will need to:
- Get an admission from a recognized university
- Pay your first tuition fee instalment.
- Prepare your supporting documentation. This includes copies of your passport and letter of admission as well as proving that you can support yourself financially during your time as a student in Sweden. If you’ll be staying in Sweden for less than one year, you’ll also need proof of comprehensive health insurance.
- Submit application.
- Pay the application fee
